In this permanent role, based in Houston, TX, you'll be providing technical sales support to clients needing equipment, vessels and services for a range of dredging, offshore and wet mining projects.

About this role

In this technical support role, you’ll apply your previous technician or field engineering experience. You’ll review customer RFPs and documentation to determine requirements for dredging applications, equipment selection, dredging processes, hydrographic surveying etc. You’ll be reading and interpreting complex technical documents, with a variety of abstract and concrete variables.

You’ll use your excellent communication skills to develop rewarding relationships with customers. You’ll be defining work scopes, and obtaining relevant project specifications. You won’t be in the office all the time – you’ll travel to customer sites for evaluation of the project and services needed. As a technical expert you’ll be answering questions and solving a range of practical problems.

You’ll be working in a team environment, liaising with sales and engineering departments during concept development, and with production to ensure the intended scope is followed. You’ll work with with vendors concerning part and/or assembly quotations, and assist with price negotiations.

Your customer focus will drive you to high quality standards. You’ll be looking to identify and resolve any vendor-related issues at the earliest stages. Your mechanical aptitude will help you identify testing procedures during assembly.

You’ll demonstrate sound analytical thinking, good planning and prioritization, and execute your tasks to a high degree of accuracy. You’ll provide content for technical bulletins and assist with creating technical manuals for customers.

You’ll have an eye on the market in general too, in order to deliver a service that stands out against the competition.

About you

You might have a BS in Engineering (or equivalent relevant experience) but an engineering degree is not required.

What's more important is a minimum of 2 years of experience in machinery industry, and a demonstrable mechanical mindset.

Offshore or oil and gas experience is a plus but not required.

You’ll need to be familiar with all MS Office programs such as MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

You’ll be able to travel up to 20% of your time (within the United States).
